Mississippi State University Presidential Scholars at the United States Coast Guard Sector San Francisco.
Each year, Mississippi State University’s Presidential Scholars travel to a unique destination during the university’s spring break holiday in which students are connected to political leaders of various sorts.
In 2017, students visited New York City where they were treated to an on-set visit with fellow Mississippian Robin Roberts and Good Morning America. They also participated in a tour of Columbia University where they attended a panel, hosted by the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA,) in which scholars heard from public servants of varying sorts, toured the United Nations, and completed the program with a dinner with Michelle Gavin, who recently completed a five-year tour as the United States Ambassador to Botswana.
This year, students visited San Francisco, CA, where they heard a riveting panel of public servants at San Francisco’s City Hall, followed by a program by the United States Coast Guard Sector San Francisco. They visited Muir Woods National Park, and completed the program with a tour and talk at the University of California Berkeley.
