The Stennis Center for Public Service’s Ready to Run Mississippi, a campaign training for women in Mississippi, welcomed over 200 women from diverse backgrounds, ages, and political persuasions on August 19, 2017, in Jackson, Mississippi. Women networked and were presented with workshops including topics such as organizing a political campaign, fundraising, digital media, and more. 

Mississippi Treasurer Lynn Fitch (right) provided the Keynote Address for the 2017 Ready to Run Mississippi.

Pelahatchie Mayor Ryshonda Harper Beechem, Meridian City Councilwoman Kim Houston, and Holmes County Supervisor Debra Mabry sat on a panel entitled, “Women of Color in Mississippi Politics.”

Participants aged in range from middle school to retirees.
