As 2022 comes to a close, we extend our deepest appreciation and thanks to the many authors and interviewees who have shared their individual reflections and experiences in the public service sector over the past two years. We created this journal to help us meet our mission to “foster a sense of civic responsibility among the youth of the United States,” which is straight from the Stennis Center’s enabling legislation (P.L. 100-458—Oct. 1, 1988; Subtitle B). These authors have allowed us to do just that, and as we move into our third year, we hope this publication continues as a platform that acknowledges and influences the important and substantive work carried out by young people across the United States.
The final 2022 edition of Public Service Review features eight new reflections from former congressional interns on Capitol Hill. In this edition, we feature reflections from former interns Anum Syed, Avinash Maniam, Mignely Nunez, Natalie Salazar, Niklas Kleinworth, Sydney Smith, Victoria Izaguirre, and Zach Blair-Andrews, who provide personalized narratives and observations of the congressional internship experience.
Public Service Review is a place for talented young leaders to tell their stories in the hope that readers will benefit and learn from these reflections, encouraging both those interested in a similar path and others interested in public service. We hope these stories and interviews will continue to inform and inspire readers of different perspectives as we enter a new year and work toward a better future.
