Public Service Review: Spring 2023

Spring represents a time for renewal; it is a season filled with transformation and hope as we leave the cold temperatures behind and re-awaken with a sense of renewal as flowers bloom and days become longer. In the spring 2023 edition of Public Service Review, you will meet eight new authors as they embrace their seasons of transformation and hope as young public servants closing one chapter of their lives and entering another.

This edition of Public Service Review features seven new reflections from former congressional interns on Capitol Hill. In this edition, we feature reflections from former interns Emma Morris, Eric Kim, Helen Martin, Houston James, Michael Finnegan, Harry D’Agostino, and Natalia Lalin, who share their individual perspectives on the congressional service experience.

Further, this edition features Gabriel Baguso’s scholarship-winning article on his agricultural community-service efforts. Gabriel is the recipient of the Stennis Center for Public Service’s Bradley E. Johanson Scholarship, which supports the educational advancement of spouses and children of USS JOHN C. STENNIS crew members and honors the life and legacy of Bradley E. Johanson, who served as the sixth commanding officer of the USS JOHN C. STENNIS. Lastly,

Their stories offer an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable perseverance of our nation’s youth and instill a renewed sense of hope as we enter this season of transformation. As we say farewell to the cold, harsh winter, we welcome this new change with open arms.
