Mia Robertson, Program Assistant

Mia Robertson is a sophomore Presidential-Endowed Scholar and John C. Stennis Scholar in the Mississippi State University (MSU) Shackouls Honors College, where she majors in political science and economics. She works as a program assistant at the Stennis Center for Public Service, where she develops resources for students who hope to excel in Speech and Debate competition on the high school level. With the hopes to expand access to Speech and Debate to underserved school districts and communities, Mia has created guides to coach student competitors as well as materials to equip coaches to lead successful teams.

Mia serves as the vice president of Speech and Debate in the MSU Speech and Debate Council, a team she has participated in for two years. During her time on the collegiate Speech and Debate circuit, Mia has earned a National Championship in IPDA Debate, making her MSU’s first national champion. Mia also works at MSU’s Social Science Research Center in the Civic Life Lab, where she researches the factors that bar members of the public from participating in civic life, aiming to increase civic engagement and remove those preventive factors. She also serves as a co-director of community and governmental relations in the MSU Student Association Cabinet, where she coordinates voter registration drives on MSU’s campus.
